and everything in between
My husband has been a fan of the Jabbawockeez since their win on America’s Best Dance Crew years ago. We were excited to see they had a new show in a new theater at Luxor.
My husband and I stopped here for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. We were seated immediately and the restaurant was not crowded. Our service was quick making it a nice place to eat and get back to gambling.
We shared an appetizer of mozzarella sticks and a side of waffle fries to go with our two burgers. The mozzarella sticks came with a spicy marinara and the waffle fries were lightly seasoned. We both went with the standard burger and I got blue cheese on mine that came with just the right amount.
We both thought the food was tasty and worth the price (given the standard Vegas premium). We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick burger lunch at The Mirage.
Thunder From Down Under, located in Excalibur, is a fun show for ladies who are interested in laughing, shouting, and acting silly while mostly naked men shake their stuff for your enjoyment. The guys certainly aren’t the best dancers but they are very nice to look at and they are enthusiastic about putting on a good show.
They dress in sexy costumes and strip them off to only thongs. They never show the naked front but always turn around to reveal their naked butts. Along with dancing, there are a few ladies selected to go onstage for a mini lap dance or to participate in a contest. They even pull an old grandma on stage which is hilarious!
The appeal of Las Vegas adult shows is not only the beautiful girls, but also the anticipation of seeing an exciting show with impressive dance/athletic numbers and high production value. Though the girls of Fantasy were nice to look at, there was nothing else impressive about the show. In fact, it was painfully dull.
Mystere is the longest running Cirque Du Soleil show in Las Vegas. Most locals will tell you if you haven’t seen a Cirque show, Mystere is the one to start with. It features the truly mind-blowing acrobatic talents that Cirque Du Soleil is known for.
Of all the Cirque shows, Mystere stands alone as the only one that focuses solely on the amazing talents of the performers, thus it could be described as the most pure or authentic Cirque show. For example, Love celebrates the music of The Beatles. KA is like watching a full length movie lacking acrobatics. One focuses on the music of Michael Jackson. Mystere is different in that it simply places the spotlight on the astounding acrobatics of the performers.
Everything about the show is mesmerizing except the giant baby who opens the show and appears sporadically throughout. The baby is an obese man in costume who acts like an infant but it isn’t humorous in the least.
Seating is stadium style and semi-circle around the stage. We were in the second chunk of seats away from the stage, directly in the middle and could see everything perfectly. Every seat seemed to offer a good view. If you don’t want to be picked on and made a part of the show, do NOT sit in the first few rows. About 5 people were selected and embarrassed.
This buffet was truly awful. We stopped here for lunch because we had purchased the 24 hour pass which allows you to eat at any Total Rewards property buffet as many times as you want during that 24 hour period. I’ve been to almost every buffet on the strip and this was the absolute worst.
First of all, the line to get in took about 30 minutes even though there were only a handful of people in front of us all because there was only one person working at the register and she obviously didn’t know how to do her job since each transaction took at least 5 minutes. Eventually, most people in line just left. When we were finally seated, the majority of the restaurant was empty so I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t want to move the line along quicker and get people inside.
Secondly, the food selection was the smallest of any buffet I’ve been to in my life.
Thirdly, and worst of all, there were fruit flies in the salad and dessert bar. How repulsive! Overall, the place was just filthy and I can say with 100% certainty that we will never return.
My husband and I purchased the 24 hour pass that allows you to eat at any Total Rewads property buffet within that 24 hour period. We went to the Spice Market buffet for breakfast and enjoyed it so much that we decided to return for dinner. The other Mlife property we dined at was the Flamingo buffet for lunch. It was such a disgusting experience that I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. For a more detailed review of the Flamingo buffet, click here.
The Titanic Exhibition is located inside the Luxor and though it’s overpriced, it is worth a visit.
Staying at the MGM property is great not only because they have fantastic restaurants and shows but also because you can jump on the monorail which makes getting around easy. We’ve stayed at both the regular MGM and the Signature and we by far prefer the Signature.
From inside the MGM, the entrance to the Signature is at the very back near the food court, the monorail, and the doors to the pools. You need your room key to gain entrance into the Signature doors, and once you pass through those doors it’s like entering another world. Not only is the Signature smoke- free and thus smells great, but it’s also quiet and not crowded in the least. The indoor and air conditioned corridor to the hotel has moving walkways which get you to the lobby quickly and once there, it’s like being in an upscale condo building.
We had a junior suite on the 36th floor with a fantastic view of the strip and an actual balcony which is rare in Las Vegas. The room was exceptionally large with a king bed and an adjacent living area.
This buffet was very clean and decorated in a modern style. It must have been renovated recently because it looked newer than everything else in the casino. The tables had plenty of space between them which is unusual for a Vegas buffet.
