Rainforest Cafe – MGM Grand

Apr 01

We visited this restaurant in the MGM while we were staying on the property. The atmosphere is appealing to children and adults alike.  Massive fish tanks, a starry ceiling, elephants, gorillas, a waterfall and so much more all came alive every 15 minutes or so.

The food and service, however, left much to be desired. We sat at our table for ten minutes before a server greeted us and then he regularly disappeared for long periods of time even though the restaurant was half empty. The food was ridiculously overpriced. Our bland and dry burgers were $15 each and only came with a few potato chips. You have to pay more for fries. Obviously, you’re paying for the ambience of the restaurant, not for good quality food. On the plus side, we tried an Oreo and Orange Creamsicle Smoothie and they were fantastic but overpriced.

This is the type of place that is worth visiting once, especially if you have kids, but when there are so many excellent dining options in Las Vegas, why would you want to settle for mediocre food?
