Fantasy – Luxor

Apr 02

The appeal of Las Vegas adult shows is not only the beautiful girls, but also the anticipation of seeing an exciting show with impressive dance/athletic numbers and high production value. Though the girls of Fantasy were nice to look at, there was nothing else impressive about the show. In fact, it was painfully dull.

Mystere by Cirque Du Soleil – Treasure Island

Apr 02

Mystere is the longest running Cirque Du Soleil show in Las Vegas. Most locals will tell you if you haven’t seen a Cirque show, Mystere is the one to start with.  It features the truly mind-blowing acrobatic talents that Cirque Du Soleil is known for.

Mystere by Cirque Du Soleil - Treasure Island

Of all the Cirque shows, Mystere stands alone as the only one that focuses solely on the amazing talents of the performers, thus it could be described as the most pure or authentic Cirque show. For example, Love celebrates the music of The Beatles. KA is like watching a full length movie lacking acrobatics. One focuses on the music of Michael Jackson. Mystere is different in that it simply places the spotlight on the astounding acrobatics of the performers.

Everything about the show is mesmerizing except the giant baby who opens the show and appears sporadically throughout. The baby is an obese man in costume who acts like an infant but it isn’t humorous in the least.

Seating is stadium style and semi-circle around the stage. We were in the second chunk of seats away from the stage, directly in the middle and could see everything perfectly. Every seat seemed to offer a good view.  If you don’t want to be picked on and made a part of the show, do NOT sit in the first few rows. About 5 people were selected and embarrassed.

InterContinental Toronto Centre

Jan 28

We were in Canada for the first time celebrating our anniversary and purchased the Romance Package with our room which was a little more than $500 for one night. The Romance Package came with: dinner in the hotel restaurant called Azure, breakfast in bed, free valet, and a gift basket that had chocolates and a Bath and Body Works shower gel and lotion.

We were in an Executive Club Level room that had a nice view of the downtown area and never heard any city noise from outside our window.

Brick House Tavern and Tap – Orlando

Oct 03

Having never been here before, we were excited to try several things on the menu. We ended up being surprised at how the quality of the food varied from excellent appetizers to mediocre entrees. In fact, I would only recommend ordering appetizers so that you’ll have an enjoyable experience.

There were four of us at the table- my husband and I, and his parents. After being seated, I noticed water droplets falling onto our table and then they began dropping on my head and shirt. We mentioned this to our server who said they built the place so fast that they regularly get leaks in the ceiling, so we were moved to a different table.

To share amongst the table, we ordered the meatballs appetizer which came with a large sub roll and a single, sizable mozzarella stick. My father-in-law described the meatballs as the best he’s ever had in his life. In fact, they were so delicious that we all agreed we’d need to stop in for meatballs during every visit to Orlando. Our second appetizer was the soft pretzels which were accompanied by three dipping sauces and this was delectable!

WonderWorks – Orlando

Oct 03

My husband and I and my parents-in-law stopped here one afternoon and had a fun time for four hours which was much longer than we expected. It was a Thursday and there was no crowd at all. The parking garage was cheap and we found coupons for $2 off per person in a little magazine we got at our hotel in Orlando.

The Point Orlando Resort

Sep 30

My husband and I, and my parents-in-law were staying in Orlando for a few days to visit the Disney parks. We knew we’d need two separate bedrooms with a shared living area and The Point was perfect for us not only because of the spacious accommodations but also the location. Near the hotel is the widely known I-Drive, or International Drive. This area has a plethora of dining options, shopping, and activities like Wet N’ Wild, CSI Experience, Wonder Works, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, and so much more. Plus, the Disney parks are a simple 20 minute drive away.

The Point likes to describe itself as a luxury property but I can tell you that is an exaggeration. In terms of quality, I would compare The Point to the Holiday Inn. I like staying at the Holiday Inn but would never in a million years call it as a luxury property!

Paradise Garden Buffet – Flamingo

Aug 26

This buffet was truly awful. We stopped here for lunch because we had purchased the 24 hour pass which allows you to eat at any Total Rewards property buffet as many times as you want during that 24 hour period. I’ve been to almost every buffet on the strip and this was the absolute worst.

First of all, the line to get in took about 30 minutes even though there were only a handful of people in front of us all because there was only one person working at the register and she obviously didn’t know how to do her job since each transaction took at least 5 minutes. Eventually, most people in line just left. When we were finally seated, the majority of the restaurant was empty so I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t want to move the line along quicker and get people inside.

Secondly, the food selection was the smallest of any buffet I’ve been to in my life.

Thirdly, and worst of all, there were fruit flies in the salad and dessert bar. How repulsive! Overall, the place was just filthy and I can say with 100% certainty that we will never return.

Spice Market Buffet – Planet Hollywood

Aug 25

My husband and I purchased the 24 hour pass that allows you to eat at any Total Rewads property buffet within that 24 hour period. We went to the Spice Market buffet for breakfast and enjoyed it so much that we decided to return for dinner.  The other Mlife property we dined at was the Flamingo buffet for lunch. It was such a disgusting experience that I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. For a more detailed review of the Flamingo buffet, click here.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! – Baltimore

Jul 31

Ripley’s is located in a tourist area that has all kinds of attractions, restaurants, and hotels. We purchased tickets to all three Ripley’s attractions because it is cheaper than buying them individually. The attractions are the mirror maze, a 3D movie, and the Ripley’s museum.
